Burntside lake has been studied by government agencies and projects concerned with analyzing water quality, preventing pollution and recently in limiting the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species. Volunteers have for over 30 years also been monitoring water clarity through recording and reporting Secchi disk readings to the Citizen’s lake Monitoring Program (see this link for the program website: CLMP).
