Tucked along the rugged shoreline just outside Ely, Minnesota, Burntside Lake is more than a destination—it is a place of deep connection, natural beauty, and enduring tradition. The Burntside Lake Association exists to protect, preserve, and enhance this remarkable lake for today’s community and for generations to come.
Founded in 1976 as the Burntside Lake Property Owners Association, our organization was created by individuals who shared a commitment to stewardship and a love for the lake. In 2013, we proudly became the Burntside Lake Association, with our name officially adopted and registered with the Minnesota Secretary of State in 2014—reflecting a broader, more inclusive vision of community and care.
Today, the Association serves as a voice and a resource for lake residents, property owners, and friends of Burntside. We champion clean water initiatives, aquatic invasive species prevention, and responsible lake use, while fostering a strong sense of community through education, outreach, and shared experiences.
At our core, we believe that protecting Burntside Lake is a shared responsibility—and a privilege. Whether you are a lifelong resident, a seasonal visitor, or a new member of our community, we invite you to join us in caring for this extraordinary place we all call home.
